Keighley Library 2004 - Hugill memorial

Memorial to Herbert Hugill M.B.E (1872-1919), who was Secretary for 10 years of the Keighley Literary Society, situated on the wall outside the Reference Library. The motto at the foot of the memorial reads, "Death opens unknown doors: it is most grand to die."

During the First World War Hugill was also the secretary of the Keighley War Savings Association, and the town contributed over £5 million in loans.
