The birth of Fritz Theodore Albert Delius on 29th January 1862 at 6 Claremont, Horton, was registered a few weeks later at Bradford Register Office, by his father Julius.

Delius baptism certificateFritz Albert Theodore Delius was baptised at St. Peter's Parish Church on 18th July 1862. He was later to reject all of his given Christian names, changing his name to Frederick Delius.

Number 6 ClaremontView of 6 Claremont, birthplace of Frederick Delius. Three houses were built in this block by Joseph Farrar, with numbers 2 and 4 at the front. Number 6 was at the back with a side entrance to the left of the building. Julius Delius rented the house from Farrar. As his family grew he moved across the road to larger premises, eventually purchasing 1 and 3 Claremont.
