My father was already here, and I don't remember
seeing him at all in India. And...so me and my mother came in
1965, the middle of 1965 some time. All I remember is my mum saying
that we're going somewhere to join your dad, and she...obviously
she must have mentioned England, but it just seemed like another
place to me, because I was taken all over like I say. And so I
presumed, you know, it was just another place in India. I never
knew anything existed outside India at that time, and all I knew
was just one big piece of land, so I thought, "Oh yes, we
might go somewhere else today", you know, I didn't realise
it was going to be such a long distance."
