Pitty Beck joins Clayton Beck at Leaventhorpe, becomes Bradford Beck lower down the valley when it is joined by becks from Scholemoor and Chellow Dean. The beck goes underground near Bradford, through culverts (visible at Thornton Road, junction with Tumbling Hill Street). Bradford Beck meets Bowling Beck beneath the city (passed beneath Cuckoo Bridge, now Bridge Street in front of Brittannia House).
The Tyrls, Tyrrel Street and Hall Ings could all have gained their names from the proximity of the beck.

Total length of the stream is about 10 miles.
