Tomb of Sir Isaac Holden thumbnail imageSir Isaac Holden, born 1807, died 1897. He was a one-time partner of Samuel Lister, during which time he invented a new woolcombing machine which ultimately led him to develop the world's largest wool combing enterprise, employing over 4000 workers. He later developed a career in Liberal politics, representing Knaresborough (1862-1868), the North West Riding (1882-1885), and Keighley (1885-1895).
