Sir
Henry Mitchell, born 1824, died 1898. He started working in Bradford
in 1842, and later became a partner with A.S Henry in 1852. Elected
as a councillor for South Ward in 1870 he became Mayor in 1874.
He was a four-time president of the Chamber of Commerce. He played
a big part in the establishment of the Bradford Technical College
in 1882. In 1898 he was made the first Freeman of the Borough of
Bradford.
